CFD Director’s Message 5.24.22

We are wrapping up the month of Nurturing Beauty and onto June – the month of Celebrating Blessings. The theme feels appropriate to me, because in the next week or two, our baby Aedan is expected to emerge from me. It truly is bittersweet that it is my last week at UUFM before my maternity leave! How fortunate I feel to work in a position that really brightens my days. I hope my path will still cross with many of yours during the summer months.

As I wrap up my work here before my maternity leave, I have been planning for summer. There will be several opportunities to volunteer if any of you are interested. The goal is to continue having (a fun, casual version of) Children’s Chapel each Sunday, except for the first Sunday of each month. I have created a Google Sheet that Rev. Rita is monitoring as of next week. In June, we have plans for the children to learn about pollinators with Cathi (6/12) and do some painting with Jerrianna for Juneteenth (6/19).

We are also planning to offer a Wednesday night family movie night in the UUFM Sanctuary the first Wednesday of each month (6/1, 7/6, and 8/3). If you have requests for which movies you think would be fun to stream from Disney+ or Netflix, I am open to suggestions!

RSVP to come watch Encanto on June 1st at 6pm: https://uufm.breezechms.com/form/fec28a

Plans for Youth Group this summer are in the works, and the CFD / Youth Group Committee has discussed hosting a monthly time for connection as well. Keep an eye on updates this summer for more information on that.
