Jonah finding himself in the belly of a whale is one of the best-known stories from the Hebrew Bible. But why was he in there? Why did he stay? Facing deep divides over values and politics in 2025, we may find that his choice and his reasons may resonate with us some 2,500 years after Jonah’s story was written.
