I recently heard this story of the Dalai Lama being interviewed in the 1990s (https://onbeing.org/blog/the-self-hatred-within-us/), and it describes the confusion he felt in response to the idea that not only could people hate themselves, but that it was sensed as a common experiences. It really put into perspective the ways we treat ourselves is often a reflection of what we witness, and how our inner world influences others, too.

When one grows more mindful, curious, attentive, and intentional about tending to their inner voice, there is a narrowing of which thoughts one believes. It is underrated, transformative work to become a more kind, compassionate, patient friend to oneself. I truly believe it to be the way we form a sturdier foundation for every relationship.

  • On Sunday, October 26th, we will celebrate Halloween with special activities in Children’s Chapel! Kids (and kids at heart) are welcome to be as festive as they wish. Costumes are welcome.
