Upcoming OWL Training Highlight 8.26.26

Macey Forsyth, Director of Lifespan Faith Formation, alongside progressive Lutheran minister, Jenna Couch, are in the process of planning a 10-12 grade OWL cohort. This is the first time in over 4 years we have been able to offer OWL at UUFM. Both Macey and Jenna have attended training to guide this course and are confident in this curriculum’s great benefits!

The results of the Google Form linked below will be sent to Pastor Jenna, but please feel free to reach out to Macey (lffdirector.uumankato@gmail.com) with any additional questions or concerns. We plan to begin in October but have not yet decided on what day of the week or timeframe yet. You are welcome to mention what the availability in your family would look like to get the teenager in your life there consistently over several weeks. After an orientation for parents/guardians, the curriculum is intended for 12 sessions of about 90-minutes each.
We do all that we can to make this fun, engaging, and deeply meaningful. The feedback I have gotten in the past from youth is that although their parents were the ones who suggested they participate, they felt very glad they did by the conclusion of the course. Inclusive, comprehensive sexual education is a great way to help gain confidence, build relational skills, grow self-understanding, and learn more deeply about topics like consent, gender identity, sexual orientation, etc. in addition to the standard information that is provided on safer practices and physical health.
