“How
Did the rose
Ever open its heart
And give to this world
All its
Beauty?
It felt the encouragement of light
Against its Being.
Otherwise,
We all remain
Too
Frightened”
― Hafiz
Today, as I anticipate our upcoming annual Flower Communion this Sunday, I am considering what it means to be in community in ways that are radically inclusive, tender, uplifting, kind, and loving. Cocreating a space that welcomes the diversity of all who are called to be with us, rooted together in our shared values and covenant, invites us all to be accountable to moments we stumble and to remain courageously open-hearted.
As Hafiz metaphorically shares, without the encouragement of that light and warmth we share, we remain too frightened to reach for one another.
May we expand our awareness, slow our thinking, and hold that intention closely as we cultivate a sense sanctuary inside of ourselves that expands to those around us.
Allow us to understand the value of returning to our unguarded, vulnerable, tender hearts and widening our circle of care in response to noticing ourselves close.
Remind us that the more often we can notice without shame, the more we return to love.
Let the beautiful bouquets we witness this weekend help us to remember the particular beauty, strength, and wonder that comes only through interdependence.
Upcoming Happenings
Yoga will continue on Mondays at 11am through the end of June.
There are no extra multigenerational activities planned for June to allow for Macey’s time off, as well as some extra time organizing for the end of the fiscal year.
