One of our hymns, “Enter, Rejoice, and Come In” includes the line “Don’t be afraid of some change” followed by the refrain “today will be a joyful day.” Not every day is joyful, of course. How do we find joy even amidst the anxiety of change, while also allowing ourselves to feel sadness if the change is unwanted?
