We often delay our own new beginnings because we are waiting for a perfect, guaranteed plan. We want life “grafted” and predictable. But the historical John Chapman—popularly known as Johnny Appleseed—offered a far more radical, spiritual vision. As a frontier mystic, Chapman strictly refused to clone or graft his trees. Instead, he planted wild, unpredictable seeds, trusting the mystery of what would grow.
