UUA Common Read Discussion Series with Rev. Diana

Each year, the UUA picks one or two books for a “common read,” encouraging UUs to read and discuss them. For the 2023-2024 church year, that book is On Repentance and Repair: Making Amends in an Unapologetic World by Rabbi Danya Ruttenberg.

The UUA website says, “This Common Read offers a glimpse into one of our faith’s foundational sources, Judaism. Readers explore the call to accountability as we follow Rabbi Ruttenberg into a framework for making amends offered by the 12th century Jewish physician and scholar, Maimonides. On Repentance and Repair invites readers of any faith to explore practices for accountability that can bring us into wholeness and really make a difference in our personal, community, and national relationships.”

Rev. Diana McLean, minister of the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Mankato, will lead five 90-minute discussions of the book. These discussions are part of the collaborative adult faith formation with the Michael Servetus Unitarian Society (in Fridley) and the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Northfield, and are open to members and friends of all three congregations.

The discussions will be on Zoom, on the following Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00:

February 29

March 14 and 28

April 11 and 25

The sessions do build on each other, and it is especially important to attend the first two if you plan to attend any of the others.
