Intentional Attention

“We need a new paradigm that convincingly shows that humanity is inherently good and thoroughly interconnected. With that understanding, we can finally move from being ego-, family-, and ethno-centric to species-, bio-, and planet-centric.” – Richard C. Schwartz

Negativity bias can be compared to Velcro, and the positive moment humans witness often slips out of our consciousness like Teflon, especially in the face of such terrors and an activated nervous system. While we must still honor our pain, how might we give ourselves the gift of sanctuary moments in which we are striving to reverse those roles, loosening the hold trauma has and steadying our grasp on gratitude? In a time when our news and media feeds, from right in the palm of our hands, are perpetually and constantly showing us how unethically and violently people are behaving, how might we continue to cultivate hope for the good of humanity? In this worship service, we will explore empowering ways to reclaim our attention through deep compassion, embodied practice, and a unified sense of self.
