The Care Team consists of compassionate lay people who support church members facing concerns such as illness, hospitalization, surgery, and more. Team members send cards, make phone calls and visits, provide transportation to medical appointments, and make referrals to other support services in Mankato. If you would like support of this kind, contact the church office so we can coordinate with the Care Team.
We have come to recognize that, while the committee may have a formal title, everyone in the congregation at one time or other offers care. We may provide leadership and emergency service, but we are well aware that anyone we may ask to provide help almost universally pitches right in.
Compassionate Community
UUFM has joined the NicBlueCares Communities of Compassion Kato Town Charter organized by community weaver Mary Ann Boe. Our community pledges to offer care to each other and to the wider community. Along with other community organizations and churches, we develop programs to support each other in need and show solidarity together.
Our current monthly joint action is the Bells of Belonging movement https://www.keyc.com/2022/05/06/kato-bells-ring-each-month/ . Churches with bells ring them at noon on the first Monday of each month. For those of us without bells, we are encouraged to set an alarm on our phones, to remind us that we are held in a web of connection larger than we can see. When you hear the noon bells, remember that you are so held. More joint actions of compassionate community are in the works.
