(A garden) is good for the health of the Earth and it’s good for the health of people. It is a nursery for nurturing connection- the soil, cultivation of practical reverence. Its power goes beyond the garden gate- once you develop a relationship with a little patch of Earth, it becomes seed itself.
- Robin Wall Kimmerer
What happens when we grow together? Aside from providing access to healthy food, exercise, and social engagement, something magical happens in community gardens- people cultivate connection. This connection has the power to change the landscape of communities and create positive reverberations that extend beyond the garden gate. Laura Marsala Peterson, Executive Director of Living Earth Center will discuss the incredible things that can occur when people come together to grow and why community agriculture can provide actionable solutions for social and environmental challenges that society faces today.
