A Prayer at the New Year

The skeptic in me proposes that upon the arrival of the New Year we admit our irresolution in the face of the anxiety, the ambiguity, and the ambivalence of living.  While the mystic in me has a strange notion of immortality – that nothing we say or do is lost in the great scheme of things.
