Options for Winter Solstice

  • 5:30 pm Outdoors at UUFM with Rev. Rita. Join us for a short service of readings and rituals honoring the gifts of the darkness, the shortest day of the year, and the promise of the returning sun. Masking encouraged, especially if you are unvaccinated.
  • 6:00 pm The Unitarian Universalist Fellowship and Church of Bismarck-Mandan invites us to a Zoom service (Click https://zoom.us/j/99880501755; or enter Meeting ID: 998 8050 1755 in your Zoom app; or call 312-626-6799 and enter the Meeting ID.) Other members of our Worship Collaborative partners are also invited. Let’s celebrate singing back the sun during this darkest time of the year and end it on a positive and uplifting note. The program will include readings, songs, and an interactive Winter Solstice ritual. Participants are asked to prepare for this ritual:
  1. Prior to the program, spend some time outside and look for signs of winter, such as small fallen branches, pinecones, and berries. Set these items in the area where you will be attending the program.
  2. On Tuesday, sit in a low light area and have a candle and matches nearby as part of the ritual.
  • 7:00 pm Living Earth Center Winter Solstice Celebration at the LEC Big Red Barn (170 Good Counsel Dr Mankato, MN 56001). Please join LEC for an abbreviated, safety-minded, version of our traditional Winter Solstice Celebration. We will gather outside by the Big Red Barn for our annual bonfire, ritual, and reflection, followed by an optional nighttime snowshoe hike. Mulled cider and cookies provided. Masking encouraged, especially if you are unvaccinated.
