Last night, Diane Dobitz and I participated in a Zoom event held by the UUA’s Side with Love campaign. UUFM was one of 54 congregations honored as “Good Trouble” congregations for our pro-democracy work in 2024. In 2025, we must continue to make “good trouble” on behalf of our democracy. Stay tuned for ways we can do that together!
For now, in the immediate wake of the inauguration that took place just a little over a week ago, I want to invite us all to breathe, to ground and center ourselves, to do what we need in order to be able to do this work for the long haul.
Our mission has not changed, though perhaps it may be more challenging in this era. We are still, in the words of that mission, “a welcoming people of diverse beliefs who commit to nourish the spirit, broaden the mind, nurture the earth and build community.”
Building and sustaining community, both inside and outside our congregation, will be even more crucial in the days ahead. As I have said before, no one person can do all that needs to be done—and luckily, none of us have to. We are in it together.
I am grateful to be in it with you.
With love,
Rev. Diana
