A small, 900 square-foot food garden was established on the UUFM grounds in 2012 as a place to raise fresh, local produce for ourselves and others.  In 2013, the garden was expanded to 1500 square feet and fenced in.  In 2015, a raspberry patch was started outside the garden fence.  We also planted a sweet cherry and plum tree to expand the edible landscaping around the fellowship.  After facing some challenges with deer (that enjoyed the aforementioned cherry and plum trees as well as some of the garden produce), in 2016 we added additional 8-foot fencing.  Native perennial and annual flowering plants are put in each year for the pollinators to enjoy.  We also have four rain barrels on our shed that store 230 gallons of rainwater for garden use.

Each season we welcome supervised children, youth and fellowship members and friends in all aspects of garden work from seeding and transplanting to weeding, watering and harvesting.  If you are interested in helping with the garden, feel free to contact us.  Volunteer help is always welcome and appreciated!

UUFM Farmstand

On Sunday mornings, we host a farmstand at the garden during the growing season.  Fresh produce raised in our garden and extra produce from the gardens of our members and friends is offered free of charge to anyone who can use it.   Free will donations are graciously accepted.  Stop by from June through September to see what’s in season!

Certified Wildlife Habitat

The UUFM grounds has received recognition as a Certified Wildlife Habitat from the National Wildlife Federation for providing wildlife habitat, food, shelter, water and a place to raise their young.
