“How you love yourself is how you teach others to love you.” – Rupi Kaur
These are the words we read as we extinguished our chalice this past week at Wednesday evening youth group, and I truly hope they are a reminder to all, but especially the young people of our world. I think about all of the ways we could benefit from the wisdom, encouragement, and affirmation that we, ourselves, deserve tender and generous care, especially on the days when it is the most difficult to show up in that way. As we conclude the month of Liberating Love, please don’t forget to love yourself, tend to both your needs and desires, and then to extend that love to one another.
Youth Group sledding tonight is cancelled (due to, of course, a lack of snow). Please keep an eye out next week for the update and RSVP forms for Intergenerational Art Journaling, Intergenerational Hiking, and Youth Group. This Sunday is my regular monthly Sunday off, but I anticipate our regular Sunday Children’s Chapel and Nursery Care to continue, as usual, with the help of volunteers.
I am wishing you all well and look forward to exploring our February theme next: The Gifts of Justice and Equity.
