As we conclude the month of heritage, what comes to mind for me are the numerous ways we might carry the past: its pain, joy, questions, and lessons, some which hold more weight and proximity than others. There is no doubt in my mind that trauma, hurt, gifts, and privilege span multiple generations, rippling out more than we ourselves notice. In fact, scientists in the last decade who studied those who lived and birthed through extreme traumas witnessed definite epigenetic changes and challenging health outcomes.
May we hold tenderly those who have known suffering most intimately and stay compassionately curious about the pain we may not be aware of, both in ourselves and in others. When we examine one another’s hearts closely, love and understanding becomes far more probable.
Intergenerational Art Journaling – Tonight!
Deb and Macey will host an art journaling group at the UUFM Fellowship Hall tonight, Wednesday, October 25th, from 6:30-8pm. If you’re confused and not sure what art journaling is exactly, you may consider peeking at this link that comes up on a quick Google search: How To Start An Art Journal: A Complete Beginner’s Guide – Artful Haven
The short answer is that an art journal is a visual diary for you to express yourself in whatever way suits you. It can be deeply emotional or light and fun, as you play and experiment with materials.
Some supplies will be available, but you are welcome to bring your own. I would also be grateful for donations of extra materials! Popcorn, tea, and sparking water will also be provided.

Children’s Faith Development
Children’s Chapel activities will be available this week (and will include Halloween fun!). A co-facilitator is yet to be determined. Macey will be present and looks forward to it though!
