CFD Director’s Message 11.29.23

As we conclude the month of November, here is a Blessing of Generosity from Soul Matters:

“When we have plenty, may generosity be our first thought, finding ways to share, to help, to reach out, to pay forward, knowing that all of us are bound together on the interconnected web of existence, and acts of giving create loving communities.

But also, when resources are scarce, and insecurity gnaws at the heart of us, then, too, may generosity be our first thought, as a means to remember who and whose we are, active participants in loving our world into its best self.”
I have recently, finally been enjoying Robin Wall Kimmerer’s book Braiding Sweetgrass (one I’ve been meaning to dig into for years). It has me thinking about how abundance is sometimes a matter of perception and of all the gifts that life gives us freely. I hope that rather than experiencing the pressure of our capitalist world, the upcoming holiday season reminds you what is most meaningful and connected for you and of the power of a generous heart.
