CFD Director’s Message 12.7.22

“Joy is the gift of love. Grief is the price of love. Anger protects that which is loved. And when we think we have reached our limit, wonder is the act that returns us to love.” Valerie Kaur

While I do not have much to share for a reflection today, the quote above is both in our Soul Matters packet and in Valerie Kaur’s book I read last year, See No Stranger: A Memoir and Manifesto of Revolutionary Love. I want to share that it is one that I recommend during the month of wonder, as she reminds us of the importance of wondering about those we do not yet know. May our care extend far and wide this month and always.

Nursery care
We now plan to have the nursery open every Sunday during worship and during some of our Wednesday night activities. Korinne plans to be on this Sunday, alongside Keri Johnson and next Wednesday (12/14, for the writing group), she will be accompanied by Macey.

Children’s Chapel
Danielle and Macey will be present this Sunday from 10:45-11:30am to hold Children’s Chapel. We explore and pull inspiration from the book, Maybe, by Kobi Yamada and Gabriella Barouch, as we celebrate the holiday season and month of wonder. A variety of art materials will be available to create with.

Youth Group
Barb and another facilitator, to be determined, will also meet with our youth from 10:45-11:30am. As always, there will be a chalice lighting, check-in, and activities to follow.
