CFD Director’s Message 2.26.25

This week, we transition from the month of inclusion to the month of trust. As I consider these themes today, I am reflecting on the ways that growing my self-trust has been a prominent theme in my life personally. Interestingly, however, I have come to realize that care, guidance, and affirmation from my community has been integral in coming to more confidently trusting in myself, my heart’s guidance, my creative processes, etc.

It seems to me that there is a balance between leaning on others to reflect to us all of the good they see and learning to befriend ourselves in that way, too. I am really grateful that the foundations of our faith tradition itself reminds me of my inherent worth often enough that it seems to have left a lasting imprint in me and hope this is true for many of you, too!

This Sunday, we will explore together the theme of self-trust and its intersection with creativity among this community! I am really looking forward to having another Sunday of intergenerational worship and offering a hands-on activity that may serve as a reminder to cultivate presence and non-judgement while we make art together.

I am also very much looking forward to holding space for a small group of young adults, primarily former UUFM youth. All young adults are welcome to stick around and connect. I plan to bring a pot of vegan and gluten-free-friendly chili, plus guacamole and tortilla chips, served in the meeting room after coffee hour.
