CFD Director’s Message 5.17.23

“Art can permeate the very deepest part of us, where no words exist.” ― Eileen Miller

May is not only the Soul Matters month of Creativity. It is also Mental Health Awareness Month. Today, I am reminded of the intersection of the two. When going through mental health challenges, perhaps it seems unlikely that one may be planning their next masterpiece. However, may we recognize how important regularly carving out time, even if just in small ways, to practice creativity as a form of mindfulness, expression, and connection. Some claim they’re “not creative,” but I believe we all are in our own ways. Whether it is writing, dancing, creating music, making visual art, crafting, gardening, cooking, or something different, I hope you are reminded of how you can gift yourself time making something. It is truly a gift that keeps giving.

What is happening this week…

  • Tonight, Moms Demand Action meets at UUFM at 6pm. While this is mentioned elsewhere in the update, I want to remind you that I will be providing childcare for this tonight and continuing regularly during their monthly meetings.
