As we make our way through the month of March and its theme of trust, I find myself continually coming back to the theme of self-trust that we spoke about, reflected on, and made art about on the first Sunday of the month.
I really appreciate the way that Rev. Diana emphasized that it is not about we, ourselves, having all of the answers. Rather, it’s believing that regardless of what comes next, that you will do the best you can (which looks different each day) to move through life skillfully, thoughtfully, gracefully, and to quote Rev. Diana: “It’s having the conviction that you will be kind and respectful to yourself regardless of the outcome of your efforts. The definition of self-trust is the firm reliance on the integrity of yourself.”
While this practice of developing a deeper trust in ourselves and our integrity is foundational, I have found community to be a necessary, supportive reflection that affirms and encourages me on that journey. The ones who truly care remind us that what we do when no one is there to witness us matters – as we reunite, it allows us to sense the way we are recharged in the fullness of who we are. The community that aligns with our values inspires us to do the same, showing up in ways that create more meaningful connections and widespread care.
I am truly happy and grateful for all that I have learned about what it means to practice inclusivity and intentionality in the tender, kind, compassionate ways we strive for at UUFM. I hold a prayer in my heart that is not only felt but made abundantly apparent to all who enter here.
