February 15, 2023 Minister’s Message

Dear Ones,

The heart you see here was created by the Rev. Dan Schatz on the Unitarian Congregation of West Chester (PA). He entered all the song words from the gray hymnal, Singing the Living Tradition, into a word generator, and this is the image that emerged! Love is at the center of our singing, truly at the center of our faith tradition. And like all words pointed to the deeply meaningful and profound, it is a word both easy to define and also hard to define in only one way. There are multiple meanings for the word “love.” And with all such words—like spirituality, worship, church—a good way to understand is to communicate about it, to talk about it, to be curious about our own definitions and those of other people. Conversation expands us and brings us into closer companionship. And love is extraordinary, too, because the more we talk about it, the more we feel it, the more expansively we can live by it.

May you spread love and receive love, today and every day, as you remember you are loved, you are worthy, you are welcome, and you are needed. May your feel it so, and may it be so.

Blessings and warm wishes, Rev. Rita
