As we recognize both Black History month and our new monthly theme of Widening the Circle, I would like to share some words from writer, activist, and Zen priest, angel Kyodo Williams, as well as a quick video for you to enjoy:
“It’s the community’s job to figure out how we can stretch into the so-called margins to broaden our understanding and the ability to be inclusive. Inclusivity is not ‘how do we make you a part of what we are?’ but ‘how do we become more of what you are?’”
If you’re unfamiliar with the 8th principle of Unitarian Universalism, this month’s resource packets included a link to a video that gives a simple explanation to share with all ages. Meg McGuire, who is working towards being a UU minister, made this video for the children in the church where she was a ministerial intern. This short, stop-motion video has been made publicly available at this link:

The adoption of the 8th Principle into Unitarian Universalist congregations at the local level is a gradual process, as members of congregations work together to build covenants that actively strive to be anti-racist. I hope that this monthly theme of Widening the Circle will inform and inspire both what actions we would like to take now as a community and what we envision for the future of our congregation.
…I am here for you, just an email or a phone call away. I am now currently holding office hours in-person at UUFM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 11am-3pm. I will continue to do my best to serve as a resource to our community, through connecting you to one another and of course, directly. Being a light in the lives of others is as important as ever, and I hope you will stay connected.

Please consider joining our private Facebook group: UUFM Children’s Faith Development (https://www.facebook.com/groups/1404655806251029/). This group is intended for families and congregants who are involved in Children’s Faith Development. My approval of new members’ access to the information there is what makes the group a safe space for sharing. I will be sharing our weekly stories as Facebook videos on my personal page publicly and sharing them in the group, as well as short prayers and meditations.
Link to the stories: Our virtual Stories for All Ages are now available on the UUFM YouTube Channel. At least one new story will be available by Sunday, each week.

February dates – we ask that you continue to make use of our Breeze forms to RSVP for both online and in-person dates. This will allow us to invite extra facilitators downstairs and spread out if we are expecting greater attendance. Please note that in-person dates are tentative and may be moved online if we are to experience positive Covid cases among the congregation. I will do my best to keep you all updated in a timely manner:
