September – In-gathering

In-gathering Sunday is the Sunday after Labor Day

Rite of Homecoming
Teacher Dedication

This Sunday is the kick-off of the new program year and the beginning of formal Children’s Lifespan Faith Development classes after summer activities. People are back to a regular rhythm in their lives and ready to re-engage routine. We have celebrated a rite of homecoming in which the congregation creates bouquets on the altar at the beginning of the service, which are later delivered to our home-bound members or those going through a difficult time. Typically the minister or a member has purchased Farmer’s market flowers, or recruited blooms from member’s gardens for this rite. Instead of a story for all ages, we have dedicated our teachers and our Lifespan Faith Director has marked the milestone of a new learning year.
