Board President Notes 05.19.2021

Dear Friends,

Warm weather, longer days and encouraging news of increased communal safety renew my energy and motivation.  Last week, I spent four days camping at Whitewater State Park.  I marveled at the wild flowers of Spring in rugged hikes and long walks.  These explores cleared my mind of busyness and opened me to prepare for Sunday’s Annual Business meeting.

Thanks to Melissa’s capable help, we have posted, for your advance reading, not only our meeting agenda and minutes of our January meeting, but also reports of the Board, Committees and Task Forces which carry out much of the work of our community.  They are provided to congregants as snapshots of the work and joy of leadership.  I hope you’ll give special attention to the Report of our Opening Task Force, which includes proposed policy guidelines we will be discussing on Sunday.  You may be surprised at the distance we’ve come. Leadership has sought to ensure that our COVID time of cocooning will be transformative.

You will also find Bio sketches of the new Candidates for Board service, so you may be better acquainted with these generous individuals, prior to voting.  Communal leadership involves an undulating flow of stepping up and stepping back, inviting all to share their gifts and take their turn.  The next generation of leaders is rising.  Expect them to seek your hand and your help in crafting our future togetherConsider volunteering before they ask.  ALL are needed and welcome.  I appreciate your confidence this year and the pleasure of serving as Board President.  I stand on the shoulders of giants who came before.  It’s quite a VIEW!

In gratitude for this community,

Penny
